A statue of 18th-century Russian Empress Catherine II was dismantled in the Ukrainian city of Odesa on the night of December 28-29 as Russia continues to wage war in Ukraine. A symbol of Russian imperial heritage, the statue became the target of anti-Russian anger after Moscow launched its invasion. RFE/RL asked Odesa residents if they agreed with the removal of the monument.
