Scuffles broke out in the Ukrainian parliament on July 23 as deputies from the nationalist Svoboda party attempted to physically expel Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko, who made accusations about high civilian casualty rates at the hands of government forces combating separatist rebels in Ukraine's east. The session was also interrupted by a protest from pro-European deputies pressing Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to submit an association agreement with the EU to parliament for ratification.
