U.S. President Barack Obama said he wanted to see the temporary cease-fire in the Gaza Strip hold "so that Gaza can begin the process of rebuilding." Speaking on August 6 in Washington, Obama called for developing a way that assures Israel that Gaza will no longer be used for launching cross-border Hamas rocket attacks while also helping to ease hardships of Gaza's population, which suffered heavy civilian casualties during the latest conflict.
