An Uzbek woman who was filmed waving the severed head of a young girl outside of a Moscow metro station on February 29 has been formally charged with murder in the case.
A spokesman for Russia’s Investigative Committee, Vladimir Markin, confirmed on March 4 that the charges have been filed against Gyulchekhra Bobokulova – an Uzbek citizen who had been hired to care for the four-year-old Russian girl.
Bobokulova told reporters on March 2 that "Allah ordered" her to carry out the grisly killing of a four-year-old Russian girl that she had been hired to babysit.
In a video of an apparent police interrogation that was posted online, Bobokulova said she acted to avenge Muslims who have been killed by Russian air strikes in Syria.

Prosecutors told the Presnensky District Court that they think individuals who are still at large "incited" Bobokulova to kill the child.
Authorities have said Bobokulova suffers from mental health problems and is undergoing psychiatric evaluation.
