Vietnam May Have Found Missing Jet's Door

A woman talks on phone at a reception center for families and friends after an airliner went missing at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on March 8.

Vietnamese officials say they may have found the door from a passenger airliner which mysteriously disappeared in flight two days ago.

Vietnamese aircraft spotted on March 9 what is believed to be one of the doors from the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 about 90 kilometers south of Tho Chu island in the Gulf of Thailand.

The Boeing 777, with 239 people on board, lost contact with ground controllers somewhere between Malaysia and Vietnam while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8.

The missing jetliner apparently fell from the sky at cruising altitude in fine weather, and the pilots were either unable or had no time to send a distress signal — unusual circumstances under which a modern jetliner operated by a professional airline would crash.
