World Nomad Games Kick Off In Kyrgyzstan

Some 1,500 performers took part in the opening ceremony of the third World Nomad Games in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, on September 2. Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov hosted foreign heads of state at the lavish event. The biannual games are held to "revive and preserve the culture of nomadic civilizations," according to the organizers. More than 3,000 athletes from 77 countries are participating this year.
