In a new report, the International Labor Organization (ILO) says the outlook for the world job market has worsened and that the situation of the global unemployed is an "urgent challenge."
The annual “Global Employment Trends” report says 600 million jobs need to be created across the world in the next decade to address the demand for work.
The ILO added that one-in-three workers worldwide -- or some 1.1 billion people -- are either unemployed or living in poverty.
The ILO also says young people continue to be among the worst hit by the jobs crisis.
One bright spot, according to the report, is that job creation has been boosted by good economic conditions in large emerging economies in East Asia and Latin America.
