Chinese President Arrives In Bishkek

Chinese leader Xi Jinping arrived in Bishkek on September 10 for his first state visit to Kyrgyzstan as president.

During his four-day stay, Xi is expected to meet with his Kyrgyz counterpart, Almazbek Atambaev, for talks on furthering bilateral relations and promoting cooperation.

Xi will also attend a Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek scheduled for September 13.

Xi arrived in Kyrgyzstan from neighboring Uzbekistan, where he and Uzbek President Islam Karimov signed agreements worth a reported $15 billion in key Uzbek sectors such as oil, gas, and uranium exploitation.

Xi has already visited Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, and attended the G-20 summit in St. Petersburg, Russia.
