At Least 14 Yemeni Soldiers Die In Twin Attacks

Yemeni officials say at least 14 soldiers were killed when suspected Al-Qaeda militants attacked two government building in the main southern city of Aden.

In a statement, Yemen's Defense Ministry said 11 soldiers were killed by gunfire when gunmen attacked the entrance to a building used by Yemeni state television.

Three more died minutes later when a car bomb exploded in the courtyard of a nearby building used by the country's intelligence service.

The statement said four soldiers were wounded and three television employees, including two women, were also injured.

Yemen's government, backed by the United States, has since April been pursuing a wide-scale military crackdown on insurgents with suspected links to Al-Qaeda.
