The ITAR-TASS news agency reported that the two leaders discussed Georgia's autonomous region of Adjaria. Kuchma said Ukraine has always supported Georgia's territorial integrity, which he said is necessary to stability in the Caucasus.
"Ukraine has always supported Georgia's territorial integrity," he said. "And we have always tried and will try to help that process as much as we can, because it is an indispensable condition for stability in Georgia and for stability in the Caucasus region, something that Ukraine is vitally interested in."
Kuchma and Saakashvili also discussed trade relations between their countries and bilateral projects in transport and energy.
Saakashvili is expected to also meet with Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich and Foreign Minister Kostantin Grishchenko before ending his official visit tomorrow.
