Ukrainian Airport Evacuated After Fake Bomb Found

13 September 2004 -- Ukrainian police today evacuated dozens of people at an airport in southern Ukraine after finding a suspicious package that turned out to be a fake bomb.

The incident happened at the airport in Zaporizhia, about 560 kilometers southeast of the capital, Kyiv.

Police spokesman Oleksandr Volkodav said that bomb disposal experts found a box containing "a fake mixture resembling explosives" and that the parcel was later destroyed.
