Nazarbaev, Putin Meet In Moscow

18 January 2005 -- Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev in Moscow today to sign a series of agreements.

Among the agreements expected to be signed are a treaty demarcating the Russian-Kazakh border and an agreement on the joint development of Kazakhstan's second-largest natural-gas field.

Nazarbaev said he and Putin would also likely reach an accord on aerospace cooperation and developing a Kazakh satellite.

As the talks began today in the Kremlin, Putin said the volume of trade between the two countries grew last year by 50 percent from the previous year.
