U.S. Soldiers Plead Guilty To Iraqi Abuse

2 February 2005 -- Two U.S. soldiers have pleaded guilty to charges of abusing inmates at Abu Ghurayb prison in Iraq.

Sergeant Javal Davis, who admitted to stomping on the fingers and toes of a group of bound and hooded inmates, has pleaded guilty to beating prisoners, making a false statement, and dereliction of duty.

Davis argued he and other guards roughed up prisoners on orders of intelligence officials.

In a separate case also heard at the military base in Fort Hood, Texas, soldier Roman Krol admitted to pouring water on Iraqi prisoners as they crawled naked on the floor.
