Two Die In Fire At Moscow Art Market

27 March 2005 -- At least two people were killed when a blaze swept through a popular Moscow art market yesterday.

Russian news agencies said the fire started in a wooden building and quickly spread to other buildings at the Ismailovo market.

The market is popular with both locals and tourists who flock there on weekends to buy Russian art and crafts.


RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
