Ex-Kyrgyz Premier Gets Job In Russia


Tanaev (file photo) 13 April 2005 -- The former prime minister of Kyrgyzstan, Nikolai Tanaev, has been named the special envoy for foreign economic relations in his native Penza region in Russia.

Tanaev was born in the region but shortly after that his family moved to the then-Soviet republic of Kirghizia. Tanaev and other Kyrgyz government officials fled Kyrgyzstan last month when a popular revolt ousted long-time President Askar Akaev.
