Two U.S. Troops Killed In Afghan Bombing

4 June 2005 -- The United States military says two American troops were killed when a bomb exploded next to a U.S. military convoy in southeastern Afghanistan.

A U.S. statement said one other U.S. soldier and an Afghan interpreter were wounded in the bombing that hit an armored vehicle on 3 June in the Urgun district of Paktika Province.

The statement said the attack occurred as the convoy was returning from the village of Gayan.

The statement said the U.S. military has opened an investigation in the bombing.
