Six Russian Soldiers Killed In Chechnya

9 July 2005 (RFE/RL) -- The pro-Russian Chechen government said today that six Russian soldiers have been killed and 10 wounded in the past 24 hours in the breakaway republic.

A government source, who asked not to be named, said the soldiers were killed in attacks by separatists on military positions throughout the country.

The source said Russian forces have shelled three areas in the south and southeast of the republic in the past 48 hours.
