Van Gogh Murder Suspect Confesses

12 July 2005 (RFE/RL) -- A Dutch-Moroccan man has confessed in court to murdering a filmmaker critical of Islam.

Mohammed Bouyeri admitted to killing Theo van Gogh in Amsterdam last November.

Bouyeri told the court he acted out of religious conviction and would do the same again if given the chance.

The prosecution earlier asked for a life sentence for Bouyeri if he is found guilty.
