U.S. Military Says 14 U.S. Marines Killed In Attack


3 August 2005 -- The U.S. military says that 14 U.S. Marines and a civilian interpreter were killed today in an explosion northwest of Baghdad.

The U.S. military said the vehicle the marines were in was attacked by an improvised explosive device outside Al-Hadithah, a town some 260 kilometers northwest of Baghdad.

The U.S. statement also said that one Marine was wounded in the attack.
