Military Truck Explodes In Daghestan


2 September 2005 -- Russian news agencies have reported a truck exploded in Makhachkala, the capital of Russia's southern republic of Daghestan.

The truck was reportedly carrying soldiers and both soldiers and civilians were wounded in the explosion.

No other details were immediately available.

Daghestan borders the restive republic of Chechnya where Russian troops have been battling militants since 1999 in the second Chechen war.

Chechen militants have attacked Russian servicemen and military objects in Daghestan before today.
