Explosions Reported In Ingushetia, Chechnya

10 September 2005 -- Two powerful explosions were reported today near a police station in the Ingush town of Malgobek.

Local authorities said one policeman was wounded in the explosions. Authorities said the first bomb was planted in a sewer. The second, which exploded 15 minutes after the first one, was hidden on a sidewalk. Police said both devices were set to timers.

A separate explosion happened near a pipeline on Ingushetia's border with North Ossetia. The pipeline carries gas from North Ossetia to Georgia and has been targeted before. Officials said supplies were not interrupted.

In Chechnya, police said a mine exploded, killing one Russian soldier and wounding two others late yesterday. The three soldiers were sappers trying to deactivate the mine when it exploded.
