Officials say that nearly 10 days after the earthquake, relief teams are yet to reach survivors in some far-flung areas. Medical teams and soldiers carrying emergency supplies were being sent on foot to some of the most remote villages.
Officials say the 8 October earthquake killed more than 53,000 people in northern Pakistan and Pakistani-controlled Kashmir -- the worst hit areas -- and warn that the death toll could rise.
Confirmation of a final toll will be difficult because many bodies remain buried under rubble.
