24 October 2005 (RFE/RL) -- Afghanistan's Joint Electoral Management Body (JEMB) announced on 23 October that all the provisional results from the country's 18 September legislative elections have been published and certified by the electoral commission.
In a press release issued on 23 October, the JEMB announced the last results from Kabul, Kandahar, Kunduz, Paktika, Nanagarhar provinces, as well as the countrywide Kuchi (nomads) constituency.
JEMB official Bismillah Bismil said "we have now announced provisional results for all of Afghanistan's 34 provinces, including the countrywide Kuchi (nomads) constituency, and over the last week we have certified seven final results, but they will be no let up in our determination until all provisional results have been certified."
The certified final results from all provinces will be announced at the end of this month, the statement said.
Basmil also commented on the JEMB's investigation into possible electoral fraud. “We remain committed to ensuring the integrity of each and every provisional result and will not certify any provisional result until the JEMB and the Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) have completed investigations that could affect the outcome of a provisional result," Basmil said.
All the certified results of the 18 September Afghanistan parliamentary elections will be posted on the JEMB official website (www.jemb.org).
