Putin Urges Syrian Cooperation Over Hariri Death

25 October 2005 -- The Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by telephone today with his Syrian counterpart about the Middle East and the investigation into the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri.

The Kremlin said Putin told Syrian President Bashar Assad that he
welcomes Syria's willingness to cooperate with the international
commission investigating the bomb attack that killed Hariri and nine
other people.

A report by a UN investigator says it has found evidence of Syrian involvement in Hariri's death.
