Afghan Plane Crash Kills All Aboard

(RFE/RL) 11 November 2005 -- A cargo plane crashed near Afghanistan's capital Kabul today, killing all eight aboard.

Interior Ministry spokesman Yousef Stanizai said among the dead are five Russians, two Ukrainians, and a Pakistani national. Stanizai said the plane was on a flight between Bagram and Kabul. It went down some 30 kilometers northwest of Kabul.

Stanizai said the plane was operated by Pakistan's Royal Airlines.

U.S. military spokesman Colonel Jerry O'Hara said the plane was carrying communication equipment for coalition forces in Afghanistan.

Officials are investigating the cause of the crash.
