Russian Former Tennis Player Shot In Ukraine

21 November 2005 -- Andrei Chesnokov, the former Russian tennis star, is recovering after being shot in a Ukrainian restaurant.

Russian news agencies said Chesnokov was shot several times yesterday with rubber bullets following an argument today in the central Ukrainian city of Dniepropetrovsk. Reports say the 39 year old was treated in hospital but his life was not in danger.

At his peak, Chesnokov, who retired in 1999, was ranked ninth in the world.
