U.S. Vice President Meets Egypt's Mubarak

17 January 2006 -- U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney has met Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak at the start of the U.S. official's Mideast tour.

There were no immediate details on today's talks, but the Egyptian state news agency MENA said the agenda included Iraq, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the implications of the poor health of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

Cheney is expected later today in Saudi Arabia for talks with King Abdullah. He then heads to Kuwait to pay his respects after the death of the country's emir, Sheik Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah, on 15 January.
