Two Dead In Daghestan Shoot-Out


(RFE/RL) 27 January 2006 -- Armed men shot dead a police officer and his cousin in the restive southern Russian region of Daghestan today.

The local Interior Ministry said the attack happened as the police officer was traveling in a police car to his home near the city of Khasavyurt, close to the border with Chechnya.


Interior Ministry spokeswoman Anzhela Martirosova said two other civilians in the officer's car were unhurt in the attack.
