Two Car Bombs Kill At Least 9 In Baghdad


2 February 2006 -- Iraqi police and hospital officials say at least nine people were killed and at least 52 injured today in two separate car-bomb attacks in Baghdad.

Officials said one car bomb went off near a gas station, and the other one in a market in the Al-Amin district of the capital.

Also today, the U.S. military reported heavy fighting between U.S. forces and local Shi'ite militiamen in Baghdad's Al-Sadr City district. The military said at least four Iraqis were killed in the fighting.

Separately, Iraqi police said that the bodies of 16 people have been found in eastern Baghdad. All the victims were reportedly bound and blindfolded.
