Israeli Troops Kill Three Palestinian Militants


Israeli soldiers preparing to fire 155 mm shells into the Gaza strip (file photo) (epa) 7 February 2006 – Israeli troops killed three members of Palestinian militant groups today, bringing to 10 the number of militants killed by Israel since 5 February.

Two members of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades died in an air strike targeting a car in Gaza City. Two by-passers were reported wounded.


Earlier, Israeli troops killed an Islamic Jihad commander in the West Bank city of Nablus. The army said two Israeli soldiers were wounded in the raid.


Both groups have been involved in attacks against Israel.


In other violence, Israel pounded the northern Gaza Strip with artillery fire, while its air force bombed a bridge. Medics and witnesses said a 15-year-old girl was wounded.


The army said a rocket fired from Gaza crashed in the southern Israeli town of Sderot, causing no casualties.
