No Survivors In German Plane Crash In Iraq

(RFE/RL) 19 February 2006 -- Search teams have found the wreckage of a German private plane that went missing earlier this week in northern Iraq.

Shaho Muhammad Said, a senior official in the Kurdish administration, said there were no survivors.

The wreckage was found some 40 kilometers northeast of the town of Al-Sulaimaniyah.

The German-registered plane with five employees of a German construction company, including the pilot, and an Iraqi on board went missing on 16 February over the mountainous area near the border between Iran and Iraq.
