Repatriation Of Afghan Refugees From Iran To Resume


Afghan refugees in Pakistan prepare to return to Afghanistan (file photo) (epa) April 26, 2006 -- The voluntary repatriation of Afghan refugees in Iran will resume on April 29, the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) said today.


According to the UNHCR's Tehran office, more than 1.4 million Afghans have returned since April 2002, but there are still more than 900,000 registered Afghans in Iran.


There are also many unregistered Afghans living in the country.
