Polish, Ukrainian Presidents Visit Massacre Site

Polish President Kaczynski (left) greeting Ukrainian President Yushchenko in Warsaw on May 12 (epa) May 13, 2006 -- The presidents of Poland and Ukraine today laid wreaths at a memorial to Ukrainian civilians murdered by Poles near the end of World War II.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko and his Polish counterpart, Lech Kaczynski, visited the site in the southeastern town of Pawlokoma as a gesture of reconciliation between the two neighbors.

Polish soldiers killed 366 civilians in Pawlokoma in March 1945 in revenge for the murder of 10 Poles by Ukrainians.
