May 21, 2006 -- Iraqi police say a bomb exploded in a crowded restaurant in the capital Baghdad today, killing at least 12 people.
At last 14 others were wounded in the explosion at the Safar restaurant in the city center. The casualty figures included police and civilians.
The latest bombing brings the death toll today in a series of explosions in Baghdad to at least 18. Dozens of others were wounded.
As the violence continued, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki vowed to use "maximum force against terrorism".
