Kyrgyz President Starts China Visit


Kyrgyz President Bakiev (file photo) (RFE/RL) June 9, 2006 -- Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiev is in China for a two-day state visit.


Bakiev today held separate talks with President Hu Jintao, State Council Chairman Wen Jiabao, and Wu Bangguo, the chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.


On June 10, Bakiev will address the China-Kyrgyzstan trade and economy forum.


The Kyrgyz president is accompanied by Economics Minister Akylbek Zhaparov and Foreign Minister Alikbek Jekshenkulov.


He is expected to sign several agreements during his visit.
