Two Sunni Mosques In Baghdad Attacked


Sunni Muslims attend Friday prayers at the Um Al-Qura mosque in western Baghdad (file photo) (epa) July 29, 2006 -- Gunmen attacked two Sunni mosques in western Baghdad early today in the latest example of the sectarian violence that is wracking Iraq.


Authorities say men in two cars fired assault rifles at the Muhammad Rassuluallah mosque shortly after midnight. One mosque guard was injured.


An hour later, gunmen stormed into the Al-Ashra Al-Mubashara mosque. Officials say the gunmen fled when police arrived.
