Schroeder Adopts Second Russian Child


Gerhard Schroeder (right) with Russian President Vladimir Putin (file photo) (CTK) August 17, 2006 -- Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and his wife Doris have adopted a baby boy from Russia.


According to media reports, the boy is younger than one and comes from St. Petersburg.


The Schroeders adopted a three-year-old girl from St. Petersburg two years ago.


St. Petersburg is the home town of Russian President Vladimir Putin, with whom Schroeder developed a close friendship while chancellor.
