17 Iranians Killed In Turkish Bus Crash


August 18, 2006 -- Turkish media says that 17 Iranian nationals, mostly tourists, were killed in a bus crash in eastern Turkey today.

The Anatolia news agency reported that another 25 Iranians aboard suffered injuries.

The crash occurred in the eastern province of Van, near the border with Iran. The bus reportedly struck another vehicle. IRNA reported that the Iranians were on their way home from a pilgrimmage in Syria.
