Bodies Of 11 Russian Miners Recovered


Miners in Chita awaiting word of their trapped colleagues on September 8 (ITAR-TASS) September 8, 2006 -- Rescuers have found the dead bodies of 11 miners trapped underground in Eastern Siberia.


Some 60 miners were working in the gold mine in the Chita region near the border with China when a fire broke out in the shaft on September 7.


Rescuers are continuing to search for more than 20 others still missing. Officials say the fire has been localized but still not put out.
