According to the Central Election Commission, the ruling coalition led by Kalvitis's center-right People's Party won 51 seats in parliament, six more seats than it currently has. The opposition took the remaining 49 seats.
The coalition is Latvia's first government to win consecutive terms of office. Most analysts have predicted that the result will be a center-right coalition similar to the outgoing ruling alliance.
The turnout was over 62 percent.
