Dutch Court Sentences Islamic Militants

December 1, 2006 -- A Dutch court today convicted and sentenced four Islamic militants to jail for planning to commit terrorist attacks against politicians and the Dutch intelligence service. Dutch-Moroccan Samir Azzouz was sentenced to eight years.

Three other defendants received sentences of three to four years. Some of militants are linked to a group whose leader was jailed for the 2004 murder of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh. Two other suspects were acquitted.
