June 2, 2007 -- Pro-Russian Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov is in Almaty today, on a visit to Kazakhstan.
Kadyrov met with the head of the local administration, Imangali Tasmagambetov, and discussed bilateral cooperation and also spoke to the Chechen diaspora.
His visit comes less than three months after ethnic Kazakhs and ethnic Chechens clashed leaving three people dead.
There are some 30,000 ethnic Chechens still living in Kazakhstan as a legacy of Josef Stalin's Soviet-era deportations.
