Serbian President Apologizes To Croatia For War Crimes

Serbian President Boris Tadic (file photo) (AFP) June 24, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- Serbian President Boris Tadic today offered an apology to Croatia for war crimes committed by Serbian forces during the 1991-95 conflicts.

Speaking on Croatian television, Tadic said he was sorry for the injustices done by the Serbian people, and he said he takes "responsibility for their actions," dpa reported.

Nationalist politicians at home immediately criticized Tadic's apology.

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
