At Least 12 Dead In Baghdad Mortar Attack

August 19, 2007 -- A mortar attack killed at least 12 people and wounded some 30 more in an eastern Baghdad suburb today.

At least four mortar rounds fell in the neighborhood, which is largely Shi'ite. Women and children are reported to be among the dead.

Reports say the mortar barrage came during heavy clashes between U.S. troops and militants.
