Central Asia: Peacekeeping Forces On Agenda At Security Conference


Tashkent, August 13 (RFE/RL) -- A week-long international conference on Central Asian security issues is underway in Tashkent.

More than ten states are participating and representatives of NATO, the European Union's Western European Union (WEU) and the Germany-based George Marshall Center for European Security are delivering reports.

Problems associated with organizing and maintaining peacekeeping forces will be the focus of some discussions, organizers told Itar-Tass.
