Kazakhstan: Permission Denied For Anti-U.S. Demonstration

Almaty, 11 September 1996 (RFE/RL) -- A request to picket the U.S. embassy in Almaty by the Center of Russian Culture of Almaty was denied this week.

Authorities tell RFE/RL that the demonstrators intended to protest American air strikes on Iraq.
