Warsaw, 23 September 1996 (RFE/RL) -- An official with Poland's Solidarity movement died today after being shot last night in Warsaw.
Our Warsaw correspondent reports that Andrzej Stankiewicz died after surgeons were unable to remove a bullet lodged in his chest. He was found shot yesterday near his home in the Zoliborz district of Warsaw.
An official for Solidarity said he did not suspect a political motive for the shooting.
