Moscow, 8 November 1996 (RFE/RL) -- A Russian official of the oil-rich Siberian region of Tyumen was found dead at his desk with a bullet wound in his chest, according to Itar-Tass.
The agency quoted local authorities as saying that Sergei Martinushkin, deputy governor for the region, probably committed suicide.
The agency reported that the administration office building in the city of Tyumen is under strict guard and an investigation has been opened.
