Ashgabat, 19 November 1996 (RFE/RL) - Turkmenistan's President Saparmurad Niyazov has concluded a visit to Turkey and returned to Ashgabat.
Niyazov says his talks focused on politics, economics, oil and natural gas, energy and transport. Discussions were also held about supplying Turkmen natural gas to Europe through a pipeline transiting Turkey.
In Ankara yesterday, Niyazov and Turkey's President Suleyman Demirel signed a joint declaration on cultural and economic cooperation.
Niyazov arrived in Istanbul last week for a medical checkup, before his talks with Turkish officials.
