Warsaw, 2 December 1996 (RFE/RL) - More talks on the bankrupt Gdansk Shipyard are scheduled in Warsaw tomorrow.
The Shipyard's "Solidarity" trade union spokesman, Bogdan Oleszek, today told RFE/RL that there are proposals to keep the shipyard in operation. Oleszek mentioned Government-guaranteed loans from banks, or possibly leasing the Shipyard.
Poland's Prime Minister Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz said at the weekend that the Government would encourage banks to give credits to the shipyard, and said that the Government would be willing to guarantee those credits.
